Great Weekend At OKC Toy Dog ShowGreat Weekend At OKC Toy Dog Show

Sherri and I had a great weekend at the Oklahoma City Toy Dog Show. If you’ve been a visitor to Mountain Vista cabin in Beavers Bend, it’s easy to figure out we love dog shows. There’s usually several show dog magazines located throughout the cabin. We love educating people about this great sport.

We’ve been involved in the American Kennel Club (AKC) dog show world for about 20 years. Initially with boxers and now with our pride and joy, “Kula”,  a Champion Brussels Griffon. He’s one spoiled little guy and loves being the center of attention at shows.

Great Weekend at OKC Toy Dog Show

He was nationally ranked in his breed last year and will soon be again after this weekend’s performance. He earned two Grand Champion Select awards and will be competing next at the Oklahoma City Summer Classic show in June. The OKC Classic is the sixth-largest show in the United States and “Kula” had a few stellar days at the show last year.

AKC dog shows are a great way to learn about various breeds. Many people attend these shows to gather information about their next pet or show dog from the professionals. You can walk backstage at shows and approach handlers as they’re grooming dogs for the ring.

Dog show people are usually very approachable backstage. Engaging handlers just as they’re about to enter the ring isn’t a good idea. That’s when it’s “showtime”.  They’re scouting the competition, analyzing the judge and making sure their dog is mentally prepared.

Sherri has handled “Kula” in the ring during every winning point on the way to his championship. He’s now only five-points away from being crowned a Grand Champion.

Summer dates are going fast at Mountain Vista, especially in July. Limited weekdays remain open in June.

Look for us at a dog show near you soon…we’d love to meet you!

Breakfast in Broken Bow

Breakfast in Broken Bow is fantastic at Adam & Eve’s Coffeehouse in Beavers Bend State Park!

I’ve written about this great place a few times previously. We love it.

They have a terrific atmosphere and offer a variety of coffees along with breakfast and lunch specials. I visited with their friendly staff last week and enjoyed their famous Breakfast Burrito…it’s the bomb!

Breakfast in Broken Bow  Breakfast in Broken Bow

The breakfast burrito was the best I’ve ever had. It was filled with generous portions of eggs and sausage and the service is always fast and impeccable at Adam & Eve’s Coffeehouse.

i devoured the burrito but the waffle was a different story. Look at the size of this thing! I could only finish a small portion of it.

If you’ve arrived in Beavers Bend and forgotten a few essential items, they have a variety of quick-stop products. Browse their nifty souvenir shop in the building while sipping on their delicious coffee.

They’ve updated their menu with new wraps and salads and even offer a kids menu.

Free S’Mores At Mountain Vista

2019-07-05T17:10:39+00:00May 4th, 2015|Dallas travel blogs, travel blogs, Travel Deals|

Free S'mores at Mountain Vista

We always feature free s’mores at Mountain Vista!

Others are charging $25 – $40 for generic s’mores. We always have name brand products and occasional extras such as root beer, gourmet coffee and tea.

If you arrive at Mountain Vista and suddenly realize you forgot to pack Starbucks Coffee, no worries. Mountain Vista has a Keurig machine and we offer many Starbucks varieties at no additional charge.

When traveling to Beavers Bend State Park on a budget it’s important to factor in all the add-on fees many cabin companies charge. The initial rate may look low but hold on to your wallet! Charges for firewood, insurance, cleaning and resort fees will increase your nightly payment significantly.

May is a great month for fishing on Broken Bow Lake.  I visited with Broken Bow’s superstar fishing guide, Bryce Archey, and he reports smallmouth bass and walleye are hitting his line frequently. We offer a “Fish and Stay” package with Bryce where you can enjoy a fantastic day on the lake with him while staying at Mountain Vista.

Free S'mores at Mountain Vista

Summer dates are booking fast at Mountain Vista. Make your reservation soon. Only four weekends remain open until September. We feature this incredible 20-mile view from our deck and there’s always free s’mores at Mountain Vista!

Whether you prefer golfing, boating or fishing, there’s something for everyone at Beavers Bend State Park!

Download our free app and take advantage of occasional VIP offers. We have all the local Beavers Bend hot spots listed on the app plus videos and pictures of the scenic Broken Bow Lake area.

Remember to do your homework before choosing a luxury vacation cabin in Beavers Bend.
“Discount cabins” are not always as inexpensive as they seem after add-on charges are figured in.

Beavers Bend Memorial Day 2015

2021-09-14T13:13:57+00:00April 21st, 2015|Dallas travel blogs, oklahoma tourism|

Beavers Bend Memorial Day 2015

Beavers Bend Memorial Day 2015 cabins are in high demand and it is almost too late to reserve a top one.

Holidays and weekends are golden for most upper-end cabins in Broken Bow, OK. There will always be a few cancelations so keep checking the calendar on cabin management websites. Always remember to watch out for hidden fees.

Your last few clicks on a website before reserving a luxury cabin in Beavers Bend are important. This is where the “gotcha’s” sometimes come into play. Fees for insurance, cleaning and resort charges will make an inexpensive cabin sometimes become very costly.

We never charge these add-on fees at Mountain Vista cabin Beavers Bend.

There are a few essential items to bring for your Beavers Bend Memorial Day 2015 visit to Broken Bow. You know all the essentials; bug spray, sunscreen and a first-aid kit. An item tourists usually forget to bring is a fire starter log for the fire pit.

These starter logs work great in the fire pit. If you are like me and have forgotten most of the tips from Boy Scouts, you will be happy about “cheating” a little to get the blaze started for your s’mores!

Beavers Bend Memorial Day 2015

Our app will make your Beavers Bend Memorial Day 2o15 visit more enjoyable. Scan the QR code above and keep it on your iPhone, Android and tablet. We have all the local Broken Bow hot spots listed on it. You will also have access to my blog and several years of tourist tips to consider when visiting a luxury cabin in Broken Bow.

We tried to think of everything when creating our app along with the Mobile Roadie team in Los Angeles. Thousands enjoy occasional “special offers” and last-minute Beavers Bend cabin deals.  Need a fishing license? We tell you how to get one. Want the best fishing guide on Broken Bow Lake? It is all there on our app.

Beavers Bend Memorial Day 2015 is just around the corner. Make your plans to visit Mountain Vista cabin before the holiday rush.

Add-On Fees in Beavers Bend

2021-09-14T13:14:34+00:00April 10th, 2015|Dallas travel, travel blogs|

Add on fees in Beavers Bend

Pay attention to add-on fees in Beavers Bend before reserving your luxury cabin.

Broken Bow Lake visitors are enjoying fantastic spring weather this week. Just because warmer temperatures have arrived in Beavers Bend, there is no need for your pocketbook to become overheated because of needless luxury cabin fees.

A plethora of cabin management companies are charging over 20% for add-on fees in Beavers Bend. These wallet-stuffing surcharges include cleaning, insurance, firewood and resort fees. We never gouge guests with these fees at Mountain Vista.

Scores of luxury cabin owners and visitors have told us they appreciate Broken Bow cabin renting tips like this on our blog. We feel add-on fees in Beavers Bend are unnecessary. Our blog continues to grow and is read by thousands each month. We try to provide education about the area and also help you save money along the way.

Add on fees in Beavers Bend

In addition to add-on fees in Beavers Bend, there is another critical element you need to consider before renting a luxury cabin in Broken Bow. How secluded is it? Websites pictures can often be deceiving and you arrive to find the Smith’s family reunion is only a few yards away next door!

Make sure you will truly have a secluded acreage before renting a cabin. There are many wonderful cabins in Beavers Bend. Some are very nice but not secluded. Many are secluded…do your homework.

The two biggest complaints we hear from people staying at other cabins in Beavers Bend are paying add-on fees and a lack of seclusion. You will not have that issue at Mountain Vista! We feature acres of isolation, free s’mores kits and upscale accommodations.

Reservations are quickly filling and there are only a few weekends available until August. Make sure to get the Beavers Bend app we created and accept “push notification” when downloading. This allows us to text you VIP offers. We only send a few per-month and our app fans will tell you there are occasionally some “very special deals!”

You’re dealing with us, the owners, when reserving our vacation home. This is very different protocol compared to renting a luxury cabin from a company touting 30-50 cabins. This has always been a strong selling point for us and we enjoy having great relationships with many guests.

Remember to be on the lookout for add-on fees in Beavers Bend and make your plans to visit Mountain Vista soon. Contact us at 405-535-8055 if we can help plan your next trip to beautiful Broken Bow Lake.

Weddings in Beavers Bend

The Willow’s are originally from Memphis, TN and fell in love with McCurtain County while passing through years ago.

“We moved here from Memphis in 1997 after logging many miles driving to DeQueen, Arkansas, where we were having Willow Furniture built for our wholesale showrooms. One day driving back to Memphis, we decided everything was so beautiful we should just move here. We called a realtor and told him we had to have a place where we could immediately go to work; no time to build. He said he had the perfect place. We were coming the next weekend to pick up furniture and had a look. It was so perfect it scared us. After thinking about it, we called the realtor and declined. A couple of months later, the realtor called and invited us to stay at the ranch by ourselves as it was still furnished but unoccupied. We accepted and knew immediately it was perfect,” Peggy said.

 Beavers Bend Photography

Beavers Bend photography is a popular activity enjoyed by thousands.

My pal Kurt Boxdorfer of Legend Media Pros in Dallas is a frequent visitor to Mountain Vista cabin and the Beavers Bend area. He is an expert photographer and videographer and has produced scores of videos and great still shots over the years for me. The scenic Broken Bow Lake area is highly popular for amateur and professional photographers. Here are a few thoughts about Beavers Bend photography from Kurt.

“Beavers Bend and the Broken Bow Lake area is a fantastic amateur photographers playground. The colors, textures, shadows and history of the area are impressive and beautiful. A 360-degree arc from a stationary point offers a number of different opportunities to not only snap a great shot, but experiment with lenses, exposures picture sets and more. It’s a chance for amateur photographers to really soak it all in without spending the entire day working at it,” Kurt said.

Beavers Bend Photography

If you are a professional photographer, the Kiamichi Mountain area in Beavers Bend offers limitless possibilities to practice your craft according to Kurt.

“If you want to see a pro photographer’s eyes pop like a Paparazzi’s red carpet flash, drop them off in the Beavers Bend. The area has everything. A wide texture and color palette and hills that rise and descend rapidly through a varied terrain. It’s also a living landscape of trees, plants, birds, animals and wildlife…a pro photographers dream ecosphere. You’ll want to make sure you bring plenty of batteries and lenses because you’ll have a blast,” he proclaimed.

 Beavers Bend Photography

Kurt is also an accomplished author and his book will help your presentation and speaking skills. He has decades of experience behind the lens and knows how to make you more comfortable in a public setting. Contact him at Legend Media Pros in Dallas if you need video production or photography.

Spring is just around the corner and Beavers Bend cabin dates are quickly being reserved. Make your plans to visit us at Mountain Vista cabin in Beavers Bend soon.
