August Beavers Bend Cabin Special

Enjoy a free night at Mountain Vista with our August Beavers Bend cabin special…

Arrive at Mountain Vista on August 21st or 28th, stay three and your fourth-night is free!

It’s been another jam-packed summer for us in Beavers Bend. Unfortunately, we have to turn away many visitors because as the old saying goes, “there’s no room at the inn!”

A few days are open near the back to school timeframe, so we decided to give a night away!

Here’s a recent text from guests upon arrival…

“We are having a blast! The cabin is amazing, and we love getting away from the city for peace and quiet!”

If you’ve never been to a luxury cabin in Beavers Bend, make sure to do homework. Stay away from resort and insurance fees along with gouging charges for cleaning and incidentals.

We’ve had an impressive list of great fans through the years at Mountain Vista. Many have been featured on our blog. We’ll stack these people up against anyone and play ball…Checkout our references!

There are tons of fantastic luxury cabins in Broken Bow. However, many are being built near a noisy highway or nearby cabin.

August Beavers Bend cabin special

Always research your cabin before booking and make sure it has seclusion and a view. The biggest complaints we hear from tourists staying at other cabins are:

  • Paying add-on fees
  • Lack of seclusion
  • Cheap Amenities

Guests don’t appreciate paying $400/night and having generic hand soaps and paper towels. We go the extra mile and provide Bed Bath and Beyond soaps and first-class supplies.

After a few trips to Beavers Bend, you’ll understand the difference between a rental cabin and vacation home. Mountain Vista is truly our vacation home…

A few dollars more out of our pocket per-guest coincides with having tremendous repeat bookings. We provide free firewood throughout the year…research this and see how many others do the same.

2022-09-07T13:37:14+00:00July 8th, 2016|Broken Bow Lake oklahoma tourism, oklahoma travel, Oklahoma Travel Guide, travel blogs|

Summer Update

We’re rolling through the summer at Mountain Vista and swamped with bookings. Only July 11-14 and 17-20 remain open this month.

Guests checked out today and sent us this note:

“Oh my gosh, I honestly can’t tell you how amazing it was and how much fun the kids had! Thank you very much for all the preparation that obviously goes on to ensure that we had a great time!”

We’re fortunate to have earned a loyal following and great visitors for years at Mountain Vista. Our top guest in 2015 stayed with us six times…they’re big-time fans!

No weekends are open at Mountain Vista in July and only two are available in August.

October is a perfect time to visit Beavers Bend cabins and enjoy the famous fall foliage season. Only two weekends remain open…it’s a very popular month.

The Talimena Drive should be on your must-do list when visiting Broken Bow in the fall. It’s convenient for OKC visitors visiting our area. Head to Sallisaw and down to Broken Bow.

The drive is stunning…

The winding roads provide picturesque views of Southeastern Oklahoma. There are plenty of  fantastic spots to pullover for photo-ops.

Download our Beavers Bend app for links to our blog and VIP Beavers Bend cabin offers.

Thanks to @TheRustieNail for including us in their latest blog, “Travel Guide to Broken Bow Oklahoma! We’re thrilled they had an enjoyable trip to Beavers Bend and grateful for being their featured cabin recommendation.

When you stay at Mountain Vista there are never add-on charges for insurance, cleaning, firewood, s’mores kits or resort fees. We’re an upper-end luxury cabin in Beavers Bend State Park with a stunning 20-mile view.

Summer Update

Scores of cabins continue to pop up, only for rental purposes. Mountain Vista isn’t simply a rental…it’s our vacation home. Sherri and I invite you to visit soon!

Resort Fees Under Scrutiny

2022-10-24T13:50:57+00:00June 20th, 2016|Oklahoma Travel Blogs, Oklahoma Travel Deals|

Resort Fees Under Scrutiny

Resort fees are under scrutiny from the Federal Trade Commission according to an article in the Washington Post.

We were the first to take a stand against greedy resort fees in Beavers Bend State Park several years ago. Now, a few cabin management companies in Broken Bow have followed our lead and wave the “No Add-On Fees” flag.

Wyndham Worldwide is facing a lawsuit from customers. Consumers are sick and tired of paying needless fees. I’ve heard a plethora of feedback from Beavers Bend luxury cabin guess and they echo our sentiments…

Resort and add-on fees are wrong.

After I began writing about resort fees in Beavers Bend a few years ago, a few new terms were formed. Hot tub, incidental, cleaning…we’re due for a new fee name soon.

Here’s a quick refresher course…

  • Never pay hot tub fees
  • Never pay resort fees
  • Never pay cleaning fees…unless you leave the cabin untidy.
  • Never pay firewood fees
  • Never pay incidental fees
  • Never pay insurance fees

“Resort fees allow a hotel to advertise one low price but charge a much higher price to a guest when they arrive at the hotel. It is truly shameful behavior,” according to @KillResortFees.

Resort Fees Under Scrutiny

Their website has a wealth of information for the novice to seasoned traveler.

When shopping for a luxury cabin in Broken Bow, pay attention to more than simply the advertised price. Dig through the terms and conditions and look for these unnecessary resort fees.

Summer weekend dates are full at Mountain Vista until mid-August. Limited weekdays are available in July.

Fall Foliage dates will begin filling quickly. Make your October-November Beavers Bend reservations soon. It’s one of the busiest times of the year in our area.

Join us on social media. We can be found on almost every medium! We’re @BeaversBend on Twitter and Instagram.

Thousands read our blog monthly. Contact me if there’s a topic you’d like more information on in Beavers Bend State Park. Remember, you’ll never be “dogged” with unnecessary fees at Mountain Vista!

Hey Man, You’re Posting On My Page…

2016-06-18T18:36:39+00:00June 18th, 2016|travel blogs|

maxresdefault

I received a nasty, barley coherent message on my voicemail recently that questioned my integrity, She sounded like a female version of either Cheech or Chong. I called back in seconds and may have set the world speed dialing record.

“You’ve been posting on my Facebook page for months and it’s very unethical, I want you to stop,” she said.

This Beavers Bend cabin management person had just shown her true colors. After five-seconds of questioning, I realized she didn’t know the difference between an algorithm and Atoka.

She’d seen our Facebook sponsored ads come across her timeline, and being completely uneducated about social media, didn’t have a clue.

I told her we couldn’t control where Facebook sends our ads and we only post on our mediums. “You’re completely wrong,” I said.

Do you know the difference between Facebook timelines, business pages and sponsored ads,” I asked?  “Hmm…No,” she said.

Huge mistake on her part…she then said “Oh, I see another cabin company on my Facebook page now.”

At this point I almost felt sorry for her. My sentiments quickly turned to her cabin owners. They trust her as a marketing and media expert. Man, are they getting taken to the cleaners.

I began thinking about cabin owners paying her to tons of money to market their $300K-$1-million luxury cabin investments…and she admittedly knows nothing about marketing or social media platforms.

I advised her to do a little research; her cabin owners would appreciate it. I politely told her to never call me again.

I’d love to play her message for you, but there’s no need to crumble her. Despite the fact that while doing global marketing for 30 years, I’ve never received such an incompetent burst of uneducated and rude blabber.

Her ineptness and lack of trying to learn marketing and media 101 is a shot in the heart to her Beavers Bend luxury cabin owners. Many owners are rolling the dice…hoping and praying their cabin management company isn’t living in the media stone age.

She’s stuck in the Paleolithic era.

If you’re searching for a marketing/media and property management company in Beavers Bend, do your homework.

Is your luxury cabin stuck on a website with 30-60 other cabins and you’re not receiving world-class marketing and media?

You have a choice…and it doesn’t have to be Cheech or Chong…

We can help.

No, she didn’t apologize.

Beavers Bend Brewery

I enjoyed touring the Beavers Bend Brewery recently and learning about one of the newest tourist attractions near Broken Bow Lake.

They’re located next to Girls Gone Wine on Highway 259 North. The Beavers Bend Brewery features a plethora of hand-crafted beers on tap and a growler.

Beavers Bend Brewery

The Beavers Bend Brewery has a beautiful and spacious outdoor seating area. It’s a perfect place to enjoy sipping a cold-one while visiting the Kiamichi Mountains.

Beavers Bend Brewery

Their staff is welcoming and knowledgable and will quickly make you feel at home. The brewery is only a few minutes drive from Mountain Vista luxury cabin. Make sure to visit the Beavers Bend Brewery on your next trip to Broken Bow, OK.

Great Fishing On Broken Bow Lake

2016-06-01T18:03:16+00:00June 1st, 2016|Broken Bow Lake Fishing|

Beavers Bend guests are enjoying great fishing on Broken Bow Lake.

My favorite guide, Bryce Archey, says bass and walleye have been hitting the lure feverishly. His upcoming focus will be on bass and says the fishing should be tremendous through the end of June. Many experts say fishing is the best since the 1970’s.

Bryce is highly sought after as a guide and booked until mid-June. He’s great with kids to pro anglers and always makes the outing fun.

I annually go out with Bryce during the dog days of August and we’ve never had a slow day of fishing. His experience and ability to adjust to water levels and temperatures has given him rock-star status with the rod and reel on Broken Bow Lake.

Bryce provides all the equipment and snacks to make your outing perfect. You only need an Oklahoma fishing license to be set for a tremendous angling adventure.

We have fish and stay packages available with Bryce at BeaversBendVacations.com.

Top 5 Beavers Bend Memorial Weekend Tips

Top 5 Beavers Bend Memorial Weekend Tips

Mountain Vista Luxury Cabin

My Top 5 Beavers Bend Memorial Weekend Tips will enhance your stay while visiting a cabin in Beavers Bend State Park.

  • Grab coffee and breakfast at Adam & Eve’s Coffee House. We love their freshly ground coffee’s and breakfast items…great sandwiches during lunch. If you forgot something from home while visiting a Beavers Bend cabin, they’ll probably have it.

  • Visit all the wineries in Beavers Bend. Broken Bow now has three and all are great places to sip a little vino. Girls Gone Wine, Vojai’s Winery and Fish Tales Winery and Vineyards. Many visit all three in a day. Each location is only minutes apart.

  • Meet Food Network Champion Chef, Tabb Singleton at his Moon Tower Bar and Grill. To say this globally renowned chef is popular is an understatement. Over 1-million people have read my piece on him since December.

  • Get on Broken Bow Lake in a boat. You can’t truly enjoy it until you’re on the water. Seeing the lake from a roadside or bank isn’t the way to experience Oklahoma’s most beautiful body of water.

  • Don’t drink and drive/speed. Beavers Bend will be packed during Memorial Weekend. Have patience and realize that filling up with gas and having your dinner served will be delayed with the large crowds. Law enforcement is always out in full-force during holidays near Broken Bow Lake cabins. Be smart and kind to one another.

Your cabin management companies will be stretched to the limit during this holiday weekend in Beavers Bend. I’ve written extensively for years about what you should be looking for before reserving a luxury cabin. Hopefully, you did extensive research and will be pleased upon arrival at your getaway.

Oklahoma City visitors traveling to Beavers Bend, checkout SpannMan’s BBQ in Antlers. The blue food truck on the main drag through town is one of my favorite eateries on earth. SpannMan is a champion BBQ chef and scores of Broken Bow Lake cabin visitors have enjoyed his cuisine for years. SpannMan has been featured multiple times in the Oklahoma Today Magazine.

I’m feeling generous…here’s a sixth tip; Ride the duck! The Broken Bow Lake Duck boat tour is one of the hottest tourist attractions in Beavers Bend State Park.

You won’t go wrong with any of my Top 5 Beavers Bend Memorial Weekend Tips. Enjoy the holiday and we invite you to visit Mountain Vista cabin in Broken Bow soon!

GCh. Hilltops Time For Kula To Fly

Beavers Bend’s favorite show dog had a huge weekend at the American Kennel Club’s Oklahoma City Toy Show last weekend.

Two Best of Breed wins in the Brussels Griffon class, both victories were five-point majors. He won against tremendous dogs from across the country.

Sherri and I have been involved in the dog show world for over 20-years and greatly enjoy it.

“Kula” is five-years-old and loves being in the show ring and at Beavers Bend! Sherri has handled Kula to each of his victories as he’s become a nationally ranked Grand Champion.

Limbs For Life Foundation

Former FEMA Director Michael Brown and Jerry Isbell

Former FEMA Director Michael Brown and Jerry Isbell

My favorite charity is the Limbs for Life Foundation. I’ve served on their board of directors for about 10 years. As chairman of their governance committee, charged with recruiting talented new board members, I’m thrilled with our latest additions.

Michael Brown, former FEMA Director under President George W. Bush and native Oklahoman, joined our board along with national speaker and philanthropist, Adrianne Haslet.

I began talking with Michael about the Limbs for Life Foundation late last year. I was immediately impressed by his great heart and desire to help us provide prosthetics for needy amputees around the world.

Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will benefit the Limbs for Life Foundation across the globe. He hosts a popular radio show in Denver that is syndicated on iHeartRadio. He is a frequent guest on national television and a popular event speaker.

Limbs For Life Foundation

Adrianne Haslet

Adrianne lost her leg in the Boston Bombing terror attack and became a fan of Limbs For Life.  We became bigger fans of her. She developed a great relationship with our staff and has raised thousands of dollars to benefit Limbs for Life. Adrianne has been a world-class ballroom dancer for years.

A tremendous athlete, she recently received international media attention by finishing the 2016 Boston Marathon while running with a prosthetic device.

I heard Adrianne speak at a Limbs for Life luncheon in Dallas a couple of weeks ago and was floored. I know a rock-star when I see one…and asked her immediately to join our board.

Adrianne has an inspiring story, is a world-class speaker, and has been a tireless advocate for our foundation. She will take the mission of Limbs For Life to an entirely new level with her talent and dedication.

There is no research dollars spent with our foundation. All the research has been done…the cure is a prosthetic limb.
