Furnishing Your Beavers Bend Cabin

Furnishing Your Beavers Bend Cabin

Glen’s Furniture-Broken Bow, OK

Glen’s Furniture in Broken Bow, OK is your one-stop-shop when furnishing a cabin in Beavers Bend State Park.

Think you can get better furniture deals in OKC or DFW? No way! Their low overhead allows them to pass along savings to customers. This legendary furniture store has been serving the ArkLaTex since 1949.

My family has enjoyed doing business at Glen’s since the 1950’s. Unfortunately the legend, Glen Haley, passed away a few years ago, well into his 90’s. Glen was a dear friend of my family for decades.

He always had a huge smile and joke ready for every customer that walked through the door. Glen’s Furniture has kept the business in the family. Daughter and son-in-law, Bobby Blanque, are continuing his legacy of great integrity.

“We are a high volume/low margin operation with 28,000 square feet of display along with additional 28,000 square foot of warehouse storage. We have a huge selection to choose from and our inventory changes often. We carry most major furniture brands and sell them on average at 1/3 less than our competition. We are here if you need us and are third-generation owners. Our fourth generation is beginning to learn the business and we plan to be here for years to come.”

-Bobby Blanque, Glen’s Furniture Owner

Sherri and I furnished Mountain Vista cabin from Glen’s and recently added a few new items. As always, the staff was professional, knowledgeable and kind.

You won’t be hounded and surrounded by scores of sales staff. Glen’s Furniture has a relaxed atmosphere and a selection to fit every price range.

Resort Fees Getting Rocked

I’ve done media about luxury vacation rental resort fee scams for years. My feedback has been 99.9% positive…except for those charging you these ridiculous insurance, cleaning, hot tub and incidental fees.

Scores are beginning to take note of the rip-offs, including NBC News.

Resort fees made their way from hotels to luxury vacation rentals a few years ago. These wallet wasters are prevalent in Beavers Bend. We never gouge guests with these charges at Mountain Vista.

Resort Fees Getting Rocked

Clouds Rolling In At Mountain Vista

The skies are turning grey for many charging resort fees to consumers. The public has become aware and are fighting back. @KillResortFees is a great follow on Twitter. They’ve been at the forefront of educating travelers for years.

Beavers Bend Fall Foliage Update

We’ve noticed a little change in the leaves on our Mountain Vista property, but nothing dramatic yet. Cooler temperatures over the next few weeks will result in beautiful foliage.

Weekdays are available at Mountain Vista in October and November. Remember to find out how close your cabin will be to other renters. Ask if you’ll be near a noisy bar or highway before booking a luxury Beavers Bend getaway.

I had a great couple of days enjoying our Mountain Vista vacation home in Beavers Bend this week.

The cabin rental market is booming in Broken Bow. Dallas and Oklahoma City visitors frequently flock to the area for R & R.

Businesses are flourishing and McCurtain County’s Kiamichi Mountains continue to titillate luxury cabin guests. Visit Broken Bow on a Friday and you’ll see tourists lined in droves at the few red lights in town.

Pay Attention to Resort Fees & Add-On Charges

Here’s a great article from the USA Today about needless fees in the travel industry.

There are plenty of cabins in Broken Bow that do not charge needless fees, including us!

Pay attention to the terms and conditions before reserving any property. Look for things such as “We provide you a starter supply…” At Mountain Vista, we give guests free firewood and have no additional charges for insurance, cleaning or incidental fees. We don’t penny-pinch our guests by counting the number of trash bags and bars of soap provided.

Bryce Archey, Broken Bow Lake Guide

My friend Bryce Archey had a client land a beast of a bass this week!

This 10 pound hybrid was caught on Broken Bow Lake and is worthy of mounting above the fireplace. Bryce is infamous for his bass fishing knowledge and customer service. He’s been considered the top bass guide on Broken Bow Lake for many years.

“With some cooler temps, hopefully in the near future, fishing will continue to get better. September and October are great months to be out on Broken Bow Lake. If anyone is interested in booking a guided trip on the most scenic lake in Oklahoma, contact me. Dates are filling up fast. Book soon at BrokenBowLakeGuide.com,” Bryce said.

Rolling Fork Takery Review

Rolling Fork Takery Review

Rolling Fork’s Street Tacos Rock!

Rolling Fork Takery is a refreshing new dining concept near Broken Bow Lake and Beavers Bend State Park.

Friends Skip and Shellye Copeland, along with lifelong pal Chris Chandler, recently unveiled healthy dining choices for Beavers Bend fans. Rolling Fork is a huge hit with tourists and locals.

Rolling Fork features a plethora of local farm to fork organic options and a convenient on-line ordering system. We ordered from our iPhone and it was a breeze.

Shey and I enjoyed the street tacos and a chicken salad. Both were superb. The tacos were seasoned to perfection. I could drink their homemade salsa by the gallon!

Healthy Beavers Bend Dining/Great Customer Service

Sherri loved her fresh salad and said the homemade ranch dressing was tremendous.

Superb Chicken Salad

Attention to detail and tremendous hospitality are paramount at Rolling Fork Takery. Upon walking through the front door, it feels like home. Take it and go or relax on their gorgeous outside deck.

If you’re like me and enjoy a little red meat occasionally, their sliders are rated as a powerful option for your palate.
