May Beavers Bend Travel Deal

May Beavers Bend Travel Deal

Take advantage of our May Beavers Bend travel deal at Mountain Vista! Arrive on Sunday’s and your fourth-night is free.

Remember to ask these important questions before reserving any luxury cabin in Beavers Bend:

  1. How far away is the nearest cabin?
  2. Do you charge a cleaning fee?
  3. Do you charge an insurance fee?
  4. Do you charge a resort fee?
  5. Do you charge for firewood & s’mores?
  6. Do you charge a hot tub fee?

If they answer “yes” to any of the above, ask “why?”

All of the above are free at Mountain Vista…we don’t believe in add-on fees.

We only have two weekends available until August. Make your holiday reservations soon. There are several holiday dates still open with the exception of Memorial Weekend.

It’s not too soon to begin planning your fall foliage tour dates. October and November are two of our biggest months in Beavers Bend State Park. Many people wait until the last-minute and are unable to secure a high-level luxury cabin in Broken Bow.

Bryce Archey, owner of BrokenBowLakeGuide.com, reports fishing is very good on the lake. We highly recommend you booking Bryce for a wonderful bass fishing expedition. He’s very popular; make your reservations in advance.

Fish Tales Winery and Vineyards

Fish Tales Winery and Vineyards

Fish Tales Winery and Vineyards recently opened in Beavers Bend across from the state park entrance.

The charming winery has an outdoor deck and is the only winery in the area that produces any of their own grapes. The location is the former Three Rivers Fly Shop and it has been renovated nicely.

I enjoyed sampling several of their creations and the hospitality was stellar at Fish Tales. Their muscadine wine likely be the fan favorite. The grapes are grown locally and their tender loving care is evident with each sip of this fantastic vino.

Fish Tales Winery and Vineyards

Beavers Bend now boasts three wineries and tourists love taking the tasting trifecta. Two-million tourists visit the Broken Bow Lake area annually. Three wineries coupled with a new distillery and beer brewery will leave your thirst for libations quenched beyond belief! I’ll have a feature on the new Beavers Bend Brewery coming soon.

Download our Beavers Bend app for a complete listing of all attractions in the area, including VIP promotional offers.

Tales Winery and Vineyards

Fish Tales Winery and Vineyards should definitely be on your must do list when visiting Beavers Bend State Park and Broken Bow Lake. It’s only five minutes away from Mountain Vista Cabin.

Side Angle Side

Side Angle Side

I’ve emphasized doing your homework before reserving a luxury cabin in Beavers Bend for years. I took a few pics of area cabins yesterday to help you understand how many are marketed in the area.

These two cabins look fantastic on the Internet, marketed with beautiful pictures, all with tight shots. Why do they only do tight shots rather than showing a perimeter property pic? It’s because you can literally spit and reach the cabin next door and a porta potty! They didn’t show this on the website.

Remember the term side angle side from geometry? Yep, I hated it too, but it serves a purpose here. Always make sure you have pictures of all property sides and angles before booking a luxury cabin in Beavers Bend. We provide videos of our property at BeaversBendVacations.com

These cabins are set on a dusty road near a bar with loud music playing on weekend nights. Unless you like hearing Amarillo By Morning blasting at stratospheric decibel ranges at midnight, you’ll probably want to look for a more secluded getaway location.

We have acres of seclusion in the upscale Southern Hills Addition…and no porta potties!

New Winery In Beavers Bend

New winery in Beavers Bend

Vojai’s Winery

There’s a new winery in Beavers Bend, courtesy of a long-time family friend.

Vojai’s Winery opened a few weeks ago and I received the grand tour from their wonderful staff and owner, Vojai Reed.

Vojai is a long-time fixture and business leader in the Beavers Bend State Park area. She also had a monumental career in professional fishing.

The beautiful building has an outdoor seating area, tasting room and gift shop. If you can’t find a great Beavers Bend souvenir gift here, you’re not trying!

Vojai’s Winery features a variety of wines that are made in-house.

Vojai and my late mother were local television stars in southeastern Oklahoma during the early 1980’s. KLOP Television developed a cable station that provided local sports, news and variety shows in McCurtain County. It was very forward thinking and the mastermind of prominent businessman, Jewel B. Callaham.

My mother and Vojai hosted a 30-minute cooking show that became the talk of the town. As I recall, the great looking meals they prepared always seemed to look better on television than when mom tried to replicate them at home!

We only have a few more weekends open through the summer at Mountain Vista cabin. Make your reservations now and don’t wait until the last-minute to book holiday dates.

I enjoyed visiting with Vojai and learning about her fantastic new winery. Their staff is tremendous and I give them five-stars for customer service. They even have plans for expansion to their spacious new facility in Beavers Bend.

New winery in Beavers Bend

The winery business is booming in Beavers Bend with Girls Gone Wine, Vojai’s Winery and another new one, Fish Tale Winery and Vineyards. I also toured Fish Tale last week and will have a feature on them soon.

Make sure to visit this new winery in Beavers Bend during your next trip to Mountain Vista cabin. Vojai’s Winery is only a few minutes from the Beavers Bend State Park entrance. It’s located off Highway 259 North in Hochatown, behind Stevens Gap Restaurant. Contact them at (580) 494-7687.

Resort Fees In Broken Bow

Resort Fees In Broken Bow

People actually charge hundreds of add-on fees for this in Beavers Bend…it’s just firewood.

I’ve written about these guest-gouging fees for years and its great to see other nationally read websites pick up on it. Never pay resort fees when staying at a luxury property.

A new Twitter follower of ours is @KillResortFees. We love the name! Many websites have picked up on our mantra and are preaching the gospel of not gouging guests.

We were the first to expose these fraudulent fees in Beavers Bend several years ago. These charges are prevalent at some global resorts, but not all. There’s right and wrong. We feel resort fees are wrong. Hopefully after reading our blog all these years, you do too.

Never pay anything other than the nightly cabin rate and taxes. Don’t fall for the firewood, insurance, cleaning, hot tub or resort fee scams.

A couple of new wineries and a brewery have opened near Broken Bow Lake, we’ll have features on them soon. Weekends are becoming packed at Mountain Vista. Check-in Sunday’s through April and your fourth-night is free!

The redbuds are blooming in Beavers Bend and April/May is amazing in our area.

It’s Spring in the Kiamichi Mountains…we love it!

Dining in Beavers Bend

Dining in Beavers Bend

Our favorite spot for dining in Beavers Bend is Moon Tower Bar and Grill, led by Food Network champion chef, Tabb Singleton.

I enjoyed this fantastic soft shell crawfish special last week. Chef Tabb’s mixture of sauces in the dish gave it a magnificent flavor. It was truly one of the best meals I’ve ever had.

I joked with Chef Tabb that he could retire now, there’s no way he can cook anything better than this!

Make sure to visit Moon Tower Bar and Grill during your next trip to Beavers Bend.

Thousands will flock to luxury cabins and campgrounds in Broken Bow, OK in search of relaxation, great hiking, fishing and golf. Make sure to download our free Beavers Bend app before arriving.

Beavers Bend Spring Break Activities

Mountain Vista Luxury Cabin

A perfect day in Beavers Bend begins with a great cup of coffee and breakfast. Stop by Adam & Eve’s Coffee Shop across from the state park entrance. They have the best cup of joe in Broken Bow. I’ve written about this great place a few times and our Mountain Vista cabin guests always give it good reviews.

After breakfast, its time to burn a few calories and take a hike. There are scores of trails in the area, including the famed David Boren Hiking Trail. Your trail journey will be much safer and more pleasurable with a good pair of hiking boots. I wear Vasque and you can find them at most upper-end outdoor stores. Their soles are perfect for the different terrains in Beavers Bend and they perform great in wet conditions.

Bring your clubs and visit Cedar Creek Golf Course. This inexpensive gem features towering pines and beautiful views, including a stunning lake green.

Broken Bow Lake Duck Tours

Broken Bow Lake Duck Tours

No spring break trip to Beavers Bend is complete without “Riding the Duck!” The Broken Bow Lake Duck Tour is tremendous! This unique concept was unveiled last year and became a huge hit. Captain Kelly Persinger provides an informative and entertaining tour including a historical background of the Hochatown area.

Contact Bryce Archey, the premiere fishing guide on Broken Bow Lake. He has a few dates available during spring break. Bryce tells me white bass will be his focus in the near future. They will be running up river channels during the next couple of weeks. Bryce will even fillet your stringer after a day on the lake.

Spring Break Activities in Beavers Bend

After an evening meal at the Food Network Champion chef’s Moon Tower Bar and Grill, don’t forget to spend time around the cabin fire pit. Many luxury cabin guests have never built a fire before arriving in Beavers Bend. Do a little research and you’ll have a nice blaze going in no time.

Our spring break dates are booked at Mountain Vista, but we have several March and April dates available. Enjoy your Beavers Bend spring break activities and contact us at Mountain Vista. We’ll be happy to help plan you next luxury cabin getaway!

5 Tips Beavers Bend Cabin Owners Should Know

5 Tips Beavers Bend Cabin Owners Should Know

Are you a current cabin owner or thinking about buying one in the future? Here are 5 tips Beavers Bend cabin owners should know when dealing with cabin management companies.

  • Don’t fall victim to “The Shady 5-80.” The 580 area code has many great cabin management companies. However, many don’t like to show invoices to cabin owners for work done on their property. That’s a huge problem. Make sure you see an invoice for propane, and all work done on your property. Don’t settle for just a line-item on an Excel spreadsheet. Require an actual invoice from the company that performed the work. Don’t let the management company mark up the price.
  • Make sure your Beavers Bend cabin management company does frequent property site checks. Don’t simply allow them to have a cleaning crew do it. With hundreds of people visiting a cabin each year, repairs occasionally need to be done. A little problem can turn into a huge one without proper oversight from your cabin management company.
  • Don’t pay advertising fees or charges for something as simple as adding cabin pictures to a website. Many cabin owners have contacted us with horror stories about upcharges like this. If you want to know who is renting your cabin, demand the cabin management company to tell you. Many don’t want to do this. Perhaps you want to send a thank you card to the renters. I strongly feel everyone should know who is staying in their own home.
  • Do some soul searching if your cabin is one of 30-50 on a website. How is your cabin getting individualized attention when you’re just a number? What is the cabin management company doing to separate your property from others? Simply being on a website with many other cabins isn’t good enough. You’re relying on a hope prayer to succeed.
  • Demand professional video of your property. Don’t settle for iPhone junk or small pop-up pictures. Video sells…make sure your cabin management company knows how to market.

If you’ve fallen victim to the “Shady 5-80” as a cabin owner, contact us. With decades of marketing and media experience, we can help. We’ll charge you less than others and create professionally produced video. You’ll have access to our app that is enjoyed by thousands. The same company that made The Rolling Stones and Madonna’s created ours. It’s state-of-the-art technology.

We’ve experienced the “Shady 5-80” through the years. One management company had our famed 20-mile deck view as the featured picture on their website for about two years. Another currency plasters the words “Mountain Vista” on their website in hopes of catching up to us in search engine rankings. We’ve seen it all…

If you follow my 5 tips Beavers Bend cabin owners should know, you’ll have a greater chance of being successful.

Being a luxury cabin owner in Beavers Bend can be profitable and rewarding if you have something unique to offer and a marketing background.  If you’re not a marketing and media expert, we’ll be happy to help.
